Hellblazer 250 went on sale today, so I ventured over to the local comics/science fiction bookshop and picked it up.

This special anniversary issue contains five stories, all Christmas- or New Year-themed, by Dave Gibbons, Jamie Delano, Brian Azzarello, Peter Milligan, and China Miéville.

This month (this week, I think) Hellblazer #250 comes out. It's going to be a special issue, natch, with five separate stories.

China Miéville wrote one of them. Which is possibly the most awesome thing in the history of awesome.

Today I saw a wonderful Canadian movie called Away From Her, which I recommend highly. It stars Gordon Pinsent (aka Fraser's dad from due South) as a man whose wife (Julie Christie) has Alzheimer's and goes to live in a nursing home. I got several weeks behind on comics buying, so I went to the shop last Friday and picked up everything I'd missed, then went again yesterday for new stuff. So here are thoughts of some of what I've been reading.

In the neverending quest for decent TV, I've been watching House since its first episode. This is, I think, the first time I've ever done that. It feels . . . oddly like dating. I'm enjoying the show's company, but still cautious, aware of everything that could go wrong, withholding my heart until I'm more confident of the show's worthiness. ( ( Read more... )
